Summer vacation with the family in Grächen
I’m packing my suitcase….
Let’s start with the luggage that should not be missing on your family vacation here in Grächen:
Warm clothes! Long trousers, jacket/rain jacket etc. Yes, even in summer. I’m sitting here in the middle of August at 11 degrees…. There are always slips.
Under shirts, because there is still a breeze here from time to time.
Sun cream, sunglasses and a sun hat are also essential, as the high-altitude sun is very strong.
Don’t pack too many changes of clothes, in an emergency you can do your laundry at Chalet Soldanella.
Towels for the whole family, kitchen linen and blankets are provided in all our apartments.
The beds are also already made when you arrive.
Slippers size 38 and up don’t need to be in your suitcase either.
This leaves enough space for a picnic blanket, a must for spontaneously lingering in beautiful places, and we have quite a few of them here!
For the little ones in the family….
For the smaller children in your family, we can provide a crib with bed linen and a high chair. We also have a selection of toys. The apartments are all equipped with a microwave and kettle to heat baby food quickly.
There are socket fuses in the apartments that you can use yourself if you consider it necessary.
All windows at critical heights are fitted with a lock so that children cannot open them on their own.
For the kids in her family
With our sandpit, the swing and the large trampoline your children can have fun around the house. Various games and coloring materials are available on request.
If you need a fall-out protection for the bed, we can offer that too.
The big little ones in the family
You have free WiFi throughout the house, the first question when teenagers are our guests.
Board games, boccia, badminton but also the trampoline could be something for the grown-ups.
And now the really big ones…
Dear parents, we also do our best for you.
Sun loungers and parasols are available on every terrace/balcony for you to enjoy the sun and the view. By the way, every apartment has an unobstructed view of the mountains. In our garden there is a barbecue fireplace and a stone table with benches, which you can use for a cozy barbecue evening. There is plenty of wood available. We also have a mini library with novels, hiking guides and illustrated books.

Robies forest play park
There is the Robies playground with rope park, which offers a playground with slides, climbing facilities, playhouses and caves in the beautiful shady Grächen forest on an area of approx. 2000 square meters, as well as a mini golf course and a rope park for children aged four and over with five levels of difficulty.
Barbecue areas with wood, seating and a small kiosk with snacks and drinks round off the offer.
The Robis Waldspielpark is located above the sports center and can be reached on foot and with baby carriages in about 15 minutes from your family vacation apartment in our house.
Indoor playground
If it is not so nice in summer or in winter, the indoor playground opens its doors, here you will find a large bouncy castle, various bobby cars, doll’s prams, Legos, books, cars, billiards, table tennis, pinball, kick…… ah…you can imagine. There will also be plenty of food and drink.
Ravensburger game trail
Things get a little more active on the Ravensburger games trail, among other things. In the hiking area around Grächen you will find eight small play chalets and seven play stations, at all points you can play one of the well-known Ravensburger games, if you manage to play them all, the children will receive a small surprise at the tourist office.

SiSu Family Park
On one of your tours to Hannigalp, you should stop off at Sisu’s family park, where you will find water games, a climbing park and a petting zoo as well as seating and various snack vending machines.
You can also enjoy a nice lunch in the new mountain restaurant and certainly relax!
Because the new mountain restaurant on the Hannigalp has an integrated indoor playground, so mom and dad are sure to have time for a “good coffee”.
“Magic water” water pipes
An extended hike along our “Zauberwasser” water pipes lets you rediscover the beauty of nature, while various installations along the way provide variety and relaxation for young and old alike. If you let small homemade boats made of leaves and bark float on the water pipes, the children will be on foot in no time.
Mountain lake, Kneipp
A boat trip on our mountain lake or something for your health at the adjacent Kneipp facility – there really is something for every taste and every age in Grächen.

Flow trail for the bikers among you
Since 2021, Grächen has one more attraction: you can now race down the mountain from Hannigalp on a 5 km flow trail created by professionals. The gondola lift takes you effortlessly to the start and you can tackle new jumps and bends again and again.
SiSu Chalk Festival
The chalk festival is all about the children. Equipped with a “starter pack” with street chalk, cups, vouchers, stickers etc., the children can let off steam. The aim is to beautify the upper village street, there are no limits to their imagination. The whole event is framed by various artists and attractions such as theater, face painting, balloon artists, bouncy castle, food corner, syrup-all-you-can-drink (hence the cups), to name but a few.

Winter vacation with the family in Grächen
Let’s start with your suitcase, winter clothes mean a lot of luggage, which can add up.
Chalet Soldanella has a washing machine, so you can perhaps leave a few things at home.
Ski and ski equipment and accessories can of course be hired here in Grächen.
Your vacation apartment
Chalet Soldanella is only a 4-minute walk from the Hannigalp cable car, so you can easily transport your equipment and there are no additional costs for a rental depot.
In our house there is a ski rack and a large shelf for ski boots, so that they are not in the way in your apartment.
For cozy evenings you can borrow a fondue set or a raclette oven from us.
We also have a selection for games evenings, as well as various books in our mini library.
You can also be thrifty with toys in your luggage, just tell us the age of your children before you start your journey and we will arrange age-appropriate toys.
Kitchen, bathroom and bed linen is provided and the beds will already be made for you. You don’t need to pack washing-up liquid and dishwasher tabs either.

Now we come to all the activities you can experience in Grächen in winter.
We start in front of the house
Directly in front of your vacation apartment is a sloping field, perfect for tobogganing and even some first attempts at skiing have taken place here. An ideal place if you want to take a day off skiing, or if your children still have power after skiing, here you can give them the rest, because pulling the bobsleigh back up is manual work here.
Hannigalp
Then of course the Hannigalp, especially the new mountain restaurant with children’s paradise.
In addition to the special family pot, which promises a cheap, nutritious meal for 2 people or more, there is also the integrated 200 m2 indoor playground “Wolkenland”, and just as a tip, go skiing or similar with your children first, once the little ones are playing in the restaurant, you won’t get them motivated to ski so quickly.
You can also charge your cell phone, as the mountain restaurant on the Hannigalp has several charging stations for all common brands and for a fee. There is also free WiFi in the restaurant.
Sisu Family Park
In winter, the Sisu Family Park is the place for the little ones, where they can learn to ski and two “magic carpets” take them effortlessly back up the hill. Take a break on the climbing frame, go to the cinema in the igloo or whizz down the snowtube run on tires. So it never gets boring.
Childcare on the slopes
If mom and dad would like to do their laps alone, you can have your children looked after in the day nursery on the Hannigalp.
Childcare is included for two hours a day. and your children between 2 and 6 can also have lunch there if they wish.
Here is a short list of the children’s parks on the Hannigalp by age
There is the SiSu Talentschmiede (4 – 5 years), the above-mentioned 50,000 m2 SiSu Family Park (5 – 8 years). The Family Funslope or the Jump Area for children aged 8 and over.
A highlight in winter are always the shots of your skiing skills on the Skimovie slope (Paradiesli). It makes you feel like the famous ski racers. The ActionCam works in a similar way on the Funslope or the toboggan run; you can get the photos from the pick-up machine at the valley station.
Grächen Sports Center
If the weather in Grächen is bad or you want a day off, then we can recommend the indoor playground in the sports center, where your children can play freely and creatively, move around or simply relax. The sports center also offers a tennis court and a fitness studio as well as a natural ice rink with regular ice disco. Ice skates can be hired on site.
Snowbike
For all adrenaline junkies or those who want to become one, we have two more attractions in Grächen: the snowbike, have you ever heard of it?
On the Hannigalp you can have the world champion in snow biking explain this adventure to you. You whizz down the slope sitting on a small frame with small skis on your feet.
Fatbike
Similarly, there is the fat bike, a real bike, i.e. a mountain bike with very wide tires, I think you can imagine everything else.
And much more
Tandem paragliding flights, snowshoe hikes, village tours, treasure hunts and so much more. You can do more than just skiing in Grächen, we promise.
